I was however, 22 years old in a crap job with a crap boss (aren’t they all?). 12 hour shifts driving me insane, it was time to tackle the financial markets, online and readily available fast money. I was an engineer by trade, so my financial base knowledge was zero. I knew nothing about Forex.

I started my trading in 1999 during the dot.com boom, it was a very exciting period of my life. I made a fortune and lost it in the subsequent collapse (I was trading DAX stocks at the time). My emotions were torn, my heart was heavy and I felt dejected and bitter.

I decided then I would not let the market beat me again. I dabbled back into stocks until 2002 when I realised how manipulated the Stock market can be, Forex was a level playing field that I felt like playing.

In 2002, there were no automated forex systems available. Trading was done manually. It was soul destroying at times, sit up all day to miss a large move when you are sitting at your dinner. I had enough, I felt like I was being “cheated” out of pips. I almost believed the market was watching me get off my chair before moving, often against my direction.
